The Manhood Peninsula Land Drainage Study commenced in December 2002 with the aim of gaining an overview of land drainage on the Peninsula. The study has progressed in three distinct phases.
An initial assessment of the available data concerning land drainage issues in the area. The data gathered here provided a basis for further, more-focussed, investigations.
A focus on the effects of siltation in and around Pagham harbour. The impacts of climate change on the area and the potential mitigating actions were explored, particularly in relation to the Lavant Flood alleviation scheme and the surrounding environment.
An examination of the potential for the local ditch system to act as possible storage sites for flood waters and the further application of sustainable urban drainage systems.
