The starting point for this work was an inspirational idea from two local residents that there were more possibilities for the Manhood Peninsula adapting to rising sea levels than were currently proposed. A workshop was held on 14 – 19th March 2001 where Dutch and British experts on coastal and water management explored options and formulated ideas on the best future for the area.
The results of that workshop formed the basis for all the following work including the preparation of an Adaptation Action Plan for the Manhood Peninsula. The recommendations included closer working and better communication between all the responsible agencies and the local residents. This led to the development of the Manhood Peninsula Partnership.
